We’re joined by Cameron Whitten, notable for many admirable projects and involvements, cofounder of the Black Resilience Fund, a direct financial assistance program spurred into existence by awareness of the ongoing needs of black Portlanders in these unusual times. Cameron shares their experiences in life that led them to the point of being able to recognize these needs, and some ideas of what working towards a better world might look like. We recommend that everyone who is able to donate do so!
Thanks to our nationally recognized “top beer bar in Oregon” beverage sponsor, The Beer Mongers, now open for more than 4,000 days consecutively. They have a patio outside the place and, if you’re lucky, you might be able to catch some sports with sound. The big stick remains indoor on the ceiling. And, as always, thanks to our generous Patreon donors that keep us going!

We are sharing this archived episode after learning of the passing of former guest Zed Bailey. We were saddened to hear of this and our condolences are with those who were close to him. If you or anyone you know need help, reach out. The national suicide prevention lifeline is 1-800-273-8255, and Oregon’s location-specific resources may be found at the Oregon Health Authority’s page. No one should go it alone.
Zed Bailey & Dan Kauffman are the driving force behind Open Bike Night,CrankMyChain Cycle TV, and a host of creative projects and activism around the city of Portland. We drink and talk about a host of topics, including Pedalpalooza, Einstein and the Theory of Relativity, cycling in SLC, Rev. Phil, Zoobombing, the Magical Midnight Mystery Ride, and “doing it better.” Dan even plays a few original songs for us.
Zed mentions a song from Enter The Haggis: “Gasoline”

we look forward to bringing you another new studio show next week.
Daniel Harkins is our friend, a member of Team Sincerity, and also was deployed through the National Guard to fight wildfires in Washington state’s forested areas. We invite him in to ask about his experiences and what he learned about the forest while he was there.
Also: Brock and Aaron go to Terry’s cross race, and Brock has a question.
