E365 – DBR Does TABR!

David Barstow Robinson (known better to his friends as DBR) completed another long distance endurance bicycle race you might have heard of – 2017’s Trans-Am Bike Race, an unsupported cross-continent contest of strength and persistence you might remember from our interview with Nathan Jones or the documentary Inspired To Ride.  We ask him about his experiences, statistics, strategies, and emotional ups and downs.  Why’s it such a long episode?  ‘Cause he rode across the country!

Check out his race Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DBRbikes/
And his Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/barstow/

E356 – we get to hang out with We Got To Hang Out!

We Got To Hang Out is a fairly new cycling-centric podcast that is already exploding in popularity!  We met them while chatting on an episode of the KBOO Bike Show a few months back about podcasting about bicycling.  Annalisa Fish & Abby Watson are enthusiastic about outdoor recreation and have had the chance to interview many notable people in the field, including Katie “Fn” Compton and John Watson of The Radavist.  We Got To Hang Out is a proud member of the Wide Angle Podium network, host to many other fine shows about active outdoor recreation.  You’ll want to hear their show!

E346b – LIVE announcement of the Oregon Timber Trail at Base Camp Brewing

Harry Dalgaard & Gabriel Amadeus present the first public announcement, explanation, and question/answer session of the Oregon Timber Trail, a new public route allowing people to cross the state of Oregon from south to north (or vice versa, weather conditions depending) by mountain bike or a number of other methods.  We were there and caught it on tape!  Thanks to Base Camp Brewing for hosting the event, filling its walls with perhaps more beards and cycling caps than ever!

E345 – Megan Ramey from Bikabout

Megan Ramey had a vision to simplify the good trip.  Why fret over car rentals, unfamiliar expressways with angry drivers, and spend half of your time dreading the drives to come when you could explore cities the way they are best experienced – by bike?  She and her family have been living the dream for some time, guiding others into relaxing, human-scaled city tours with their travel guides, and getting there in style on Amtrak.  We get the skinny on Bikabout.
