E413 – Michael Anderson on Residential Infill!

Aaron takes on Saltzman for the first time this year, Guthrie is recovering from a back injury and… Michael Andersen!  Our friend who hasn’t been on the show in a while talks residential Infill, and how we can do better in Portland for equitable access to housing.  Check out his writing for Portland For Everyone, a great coalition of organizations, individuals and businesses working toward this goal.

Also thanks to our drink sponsor The Beer Mongers for generously providing our libations, and our generous Patreon donors for underwriting our operating costs!

E370 – Ladies of Bike Loud!

Emily & Jessica are involved in Bike Loud!  The organization coordinates the concerns of their members & those of their surrounding community with direct actions that make needs evident – like blocking a lane of traffic with hay bales to emphasise the need for fewer lanes on a busy street where people have been hurt or killed.  What’s the best response to adversity?  Absurdity.  Check in with them to get involved, or how you can spark your own activism & advocacy in your own area.

E364 – Rob Asks Questions

Rob Sadowsky worked in Portland bicycle advocacy for a long time; long enough to have some questions about how life works in this town.  We talk about change, will & apathy, the new bike tax (of course), nonprofits & government, and what it’s like to be be unemployed/underemployed.  Questions can find answers!

Also: Brock had some adventures around town and Guthrie made unexpected bicycle world connections at a potluck.

E353 – Tori Bortman: The Legend

Tori Bortman!  We should have had her on years ago.  She is one of the senior hosts on the KBOO Bike Show, teacher of mechanics and skills at Gracie’s Wrench, author of The Bicycling Big Book of Cycling for Beginners: Everything a new rider needs to know to gear up and start riding; on top of this, she is a delightful conversationalist.  We get to know the legend in person, discussing Portland’s vegan heritage sites, Christian rock music, radio, music, wrenching and teaching people to ride, and much more!

E346b – LIVE announcement of the Oregon Timber Trail at Base Camp Brewing

Harry Dalgaard & Gabriel Amadeus present the first public announcement, explanation, and question/answer session of the Oregon Timber Trail, a new public route allowing people to cross the state of Oregon from south to north (or vice versa, weather conditions depending) by mountain bike or a number of other methods.  We were there and caught it on tape!  Thanks to Base Camp Brewing for hosting the event, filling its walls with perhaps more beards and cycling caps than ever!

E339 – Cory Skates in Other Cities

Cory Poole returns to talk about what it’s like to travel with a skateboard in a new city, whether that’s his recent trip to San Diego or your upcoming trip to Portland.  How does it work as you try to find your way around?  What should you know before you go?  We also chat a bit about skating with a young child in the city and what the law requires of us.

Also: Aaron and Anna “lived the revolution” and Aaron received a lot of hugs. Brock rented a car2go for a long trip when another option fell through.
