Brian (aka “Shadowfoot“) from Wellington, New Zealand, joined us in the studio and we stuck around for a bit to chat about beer, bikes, transit, and many other things. Brock & Aaron were joined by David Robinson from E299 as well. We were glad to meet a long time listener, first time guest!
Kristen Stallman works for the Oregon Department of Transportation and is excited about the upcoming anniversary of the Historic Columbia River Highway! We talk about natural beauty, tourism, and simpler transport (including proposed bus service!) in one of the most beautiful places on earth. HistoricHighway.org GorgeTransitStudy.org

We met Daniel and Ashley at Cranksgiving 2015, the charitable alleycat race to benefit people in need. Daniel is a fascinating fellow, originally from Albany NY, who loves to restore and rebuild old bikes. We talk about wrenching on specialties, growing up around Amtrak, his touring aspirations, and more.
Also: Brock prepped for his summer adventure by climbing a mountain while his ride is in the shop, and Aaron attempted an early De Ronde!

Anna says saddle sores are dumb and there are some solutions:
-diaper rash cream
-hydrocortisone cream
-salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide cream (a.k.a the stuff for acne)
Dom from onebikeoneworld.com shares an unusual saddle to avoid the unpleasantness:
Drew the Welder says saddle sores could be boil/abscess instead of lymph system. Best to stop riding until it goes away.
Emily from the Hub Bicycle Company in Cambridge, MA is on a road trip up the west coast of the USA, and stopped into the studio to give a proper interview afterher induction a year ago in the basement of her Boston area shop. We talk about the two coasts, MTB in Santa Barbara, camping and renting cars when it gets cold, prairies full of elk, Portland and redevelopment, and other things. What a great chat! Emily is totally a game day player for podcasting.
We bid Aaron a fond farewell as he begins a new life south of the border. (just kidding – he’ll be back in two weeks!)

In a post-holiday season show, Brock describes a recent medical problem and why Amtrak’s sleeper car is the best way to travel, Aaron has some back pain and is a Filmed By Bike juror! And David Robinson rides his 29er through the icy slush to join the discussion.
Tim Mooney from Pedalshift is back in town! Strangely, it’s seemingly impossible to get him into the same room as both Aaron AND Brock, so he muses on the possibility that they are the same person. We are joined by Adele Dittus as a cohost and discuss Portlandy things, long bike rides, and the definition of #notcheating when it comes to adventures.
Thanks to our beverage sponsor, The Beer Mongers (hosting Chris Fest October 20!), and, as always, thanks to our generous Patreon donors that keep us going!
Mail Tim wrote in before he arrived in the studio about technology’s place in life.
Josh Guttmacher, Andy Schmidt & John Fritz are boat fans who also like to bicycle. We discuss, in this long awaited #boatmonth podcast, how boating and bicycling are similar, transporting your vessel by bike, and adventures in getting marooned or racing past “secret” racecourse markers. Never thought we’d be on a boat.
