E264b – Brent Kepfer: CHIERS

Our friend Eric referred us to Brent Kepfer who works for CHIERS, the service that responds to people who are intoxicated in public with no one to help them and nowhere to go.  We’ve mentioned this public service on the show before, and decided it would be interesting to hear how it works!  Brent & Brock talk about intoxication intake, the care process, and also what Brent likes about bicycling in Portland on his fixed gear.  Also: drinking holidays are coming up – take care of yourselves!

E264 – Adam Stewart & Friends: Overnight Ride

Adam Stewart is a mechanic at Portland’s Velo Cult Bike Shop & Tavern, and took a bunch of his friends on an overnight gravel ride through the woods. How did it go? How was the morale? What should you do if you wanted to follow suit? Friends Kevin and Craig pitch in to fill out the answers.

Also: Brock goes to Steens Moutain, and Aaron needs some vitamin D.

E261d – Pt.3 Team Grilled By Bike: Exploring Unsharted Territory

The crew eats all the queso, finds the endpoint at the Columbia River, talks to more bikepackers, makes camp one last time, and Eric returns to Portland with the record button still activated to talk to even more people.

E261c – Pt.2 Team Grilled By Bike: Exploring Unsharted Territory

The crew interviews a long-time bikepacker, plays some more ping pong, throws the tomahawk, hangs around a campfire with some other Outback riders, and makes banana boats.

E261b Pt.1 Team Grilled By Bike: Exploring Unsharted Territory

The intrepid crew rides out of Klamath, plays some ping pong, watches a thunderstorm, chops down trees, interviews other bikepackers, and hangs out in a bike shop.

E261a – Team Grilled By Bike does the Oregon Outback

Team Grilled By Bike.  The Oregon Outback.  What more needs to be said? Eric, JP, Eilif, & Ross party responsibly across the uninhabited lands of eastern Oregon, encountering mud, rain, fallen trees, and windfall burn barrels, while engaging in the throwing of sharp implements and the playing of table tennis.  How did it go down? They tell us.

Stay tuned this week for field recordings of the crew’s adventure, curated by Eric Iverson.  Find Grilled By Bike on instagram.
